Delivery Options - Streaming vs Real-Time
Depending on the content, audience and other factors we deliver 3D animation in the following ways:
Web 3D: Now we can deliver high-quality objects and animation in relatively small files which are rendered on the audiences machine - quickly :) See 'Mouse Man' on the blackboard ...
Streaming Video: Animation sequences are pre-rendered to
a video file then streamed
or
downloaded by the viewer.
Pros:
For hi-bandwidth web & cd-rom viewers,
this provides the best image quality & sound
Cons: Limited interaction capability; more server space required;
lower-quality & lengthy download times for dial-up web viewers; streaming
requires special server software
Flash: Great for 2D & interactivity, but 3D animation pretty much has to be pre-rendered.
Animated GIF: Gif files are fine for small, very limited animations less than 5 seconds and no audio.
